Mr. Jerry Pete Nilo, 70, of Acworth, GA passed away on August 27, 2017. Jerry was born on October 22, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Marcelino Pete and Veda Fay Nilo. After graduating from Wilkes Central High School in North Wilkesboro, NC, Jerry joined the US Air Force and served honorably during the Vietnam War. From 1968-1973, Jerry worked for Kentron Hawaii in the Marshall Islands, where he met Phyllis, the love of his life. Mr. Jerry Pete Nilo, 70, of Acworth, GA passed away on August 27, 2017. Jerry was born on October 22, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Marcelino Pete and Veda Fay Nilo. After graduating from Wilkes Central High School in North Wilkesboro, NC, Jerry joined the US Air Force and served honorably during the Vietnam War. From 1968-1973, Jerry worked for Kentron Hawaii in the Marshall Islands, where he met Phyllis, the love of his life. He then spent 28 years working his way up to Regional Service Manager for Sensormedics. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, baseball and loved keeping up with the latest technologies. Jerry was happiest when he was with his family. He was an adoring and devoted husband, loving father and doting Pappy to his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Jerry will be remembered for his infectious smile and generosity. He was truly a selfless man, always willing to give his time to help family, friends or anyone in need, showing kindness and respect to everyone he met. He was a true gift from God to his family and will be immensely missed by so many. Jerry leaves behind his beloved wife and soulmate of 43 years, Phyllis Elaine Nilo; son, John-Daniel Nilo; daughters, Elizabeth Alice Prothero (Raymond) and Katherine Diane Redd (Jeff Cox); grandchildren, William, Emma, Nicholas and Alex; siblings, Bob, Faye (Jonah), Jim (Ann), Charlie (Michelle), Angie (Mark), Greg and sister-in-law Mary; brothers-in-law, Joe Cooper (Paula) and Robert Cooper (Stephanie); sister-in-law, Jenny Clerk (Geoff); and a large and loving extended family. He was preceded in death by siblings, Larry, Danny, Ray, and Bill. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 4, 2017 from 6-8 pm.
